Oh Deer

We saw a deer on our hike up Dry Canyon this morning. This might not seem like anything special, but for some weird reason we never ever see wildlife on our hikes. Jackson kept calling it a dog. It looked like a half starved dog to me, but we will take whatever wildlife we can get.

We were hiking through a wonderful gambel oak forest. I love these trees because they act like a heat sink. I don’t know if that is technically true, but the air next to them is always cooler—so refreshing on a warm summer day hike.

Jackson’s new word of the day is “nana” for banana. He’s eaten three already today.
