Snowshoeing/Car Trouble Adventure

We had quite the adventure today. Mandy had the day off for President’s Day so Jackson and I went snowshoeing up Big Springs Canyon. It’s so pretty and perfect for snowshoeing. There were lots of other snowshoers on the trail. Jackson, like always, was quite the hiking trooper.

Jackson isn’t asleep, but every time he laid down in the sled he would close his eyes, perhaps playing dead.

The second half of our adventure was much more stressful. I was trying to put the jeep into 4 wheel drive from 4 wheel part time because the parking lot was pretty snowy. There were some crunchy noises and the car wouldn’t go. My tires weren’t even spinning. So the gear selector would move, but the gears wouldn’t engage. Of course we were worried my transmission had just died. My cell phone didn’t have coverage, but thankfully Mandy’s did. I called Colin and he came to rescue us. We hung out in the car watching kids sled and people come and go from snowshoeing until Colin got there. He took us home and took care of everything from then on. After getting us home, he met a tow truck driver up there. It turned out there is a little plastic piece that holds the cables for the 4 wheel drive in place and that broke, so it was stuck in neutral. The tow truck driver put the piece back and Colin was able to drive the jeep to a spot where it could actually be towed from. The piece still needs to be correctly replaced and that hopefully will happen by the end of the day. I’m so grateful that things went as well as they did and for Colin who always makes things better.
