Hyalophora cecropia

DSC_0428

Today on our adventure up Provo Canyon, we had a special treat to find this beautiful moth on the playground at Vivian Park. It was huge! The other mom’s were calling it a butterfly, but I knew it was a moth because it was furry. I quickly found the moth on the internet and it is a cecropia moth. It’s the largest native moth in North America. Here’s another picture that shows it’s size better.
