We had a wonderful Labor Day with my family at Bear Lake. It’s going to have been 10 years since Daddy died and remembering and honoring Daddy was a big part of the trip. We did some things Daddy would have loved like going to the Paris Ice Caves and to see Fossils at Fossil Butte National Monument.
Pretty Wyoming outside of Evanston.
Waiting to surprise Grammy Goose with a birthday party. She left the cabin (to see the moose) long enough for us to decorate a little and hide.
Pliosaurs (like the bear lake monster) causing trouble in the night.
Sunrise over Bear Lake.
The resident moose. The entire weekend, he stayed next to the same clump of trees in the same field just below our cabin.
The morning crew to see the moose.
Saturday morning we went to the Paris Ice Caves.
This is my favorite picture from the entire weekend:
Watching the BYU game against Nebraska. Colin brought rabbit ears so we could watch. We missed the exciting 2nd half because we went to play at the lake.
Princess party for Autumn’s birthday.
Amy, Annie and me in the canoe.
Colin, Autumn and Jackson in the Canoe.
These two babies were so content to sit by each other and play in the sand. Mariam is 6 months? older than Natty.
Grammy goose and Amy in the Canoe.
The milky way was looking amazing and I finally figured out how to take pictures of it.
Church at Bear Lake was pretty crazy. That poor ward just gets bombarded during the summer with just too many vacationing Mormons. So they just have two Sacrament meetings back to back, with tv monitors on in ALL the classrooms and there were still lots of people in the halls or that just went home. After sacrament meeting we had our own primary sharing time at the cabin and Grammy Goose brought some belongings of Daddy’s so the grandkids could get to know more about Grandpa Joel. She had made an amazing activity book with pictures of Daddy. After a yummy café rio inspired lunch, we drove out to Fossil Butte National Monument.
Flock of grouse
Sharing food.
On the way home, we got trapped for a minute by a parade in Evanston. It’s a running family joke that we are always getting trapped or our travel impeded by parades. This is the 3rd time it happened this summer.
