Best Vacation Ever Day 1-2

We had our best vacation ever this year at the end of July. We saw and did so much. It was a trip of beautiful sunsets and pine trees and experiencing new things and enjoying family. Nothing went wrong—no car trouble, bad weather, sick kids—and it was really difficult to come home.

Our vacation started with a 10 hour drive through the night to get to Walla Walla. We transferred a sleeping Natalie from her crib to her car seat, left our house just as it was getting dark and the other kids fell asleep within a half hour of leaving. All stayed asleep the rest of the night. Colin and I switched driving and sleeping and listening to books on tape. It is so pleasant to drive on empty roads with peace and quiet in the car.

Annie was quite smitten with Grandma. They became best buds the entire trip.

The First day Colin and I took turns napping. I took the kids to Pioneer park. There’s a small aviary and the best giant trees and gazebo. The kids did little performances on the gazebo.

On Sunday we had dinner with family: G.G. (Grandma Great), Uncle Dan, Aunt Shirley, Colin’s Cousin Robert and his wife Kyla and their two kids. This is a picture of G.G. and her great grand kids (2nd cousins).

After diner we went to the cemetery to visit Grandpa Jack and Cousin David. Jackson is named after Grandpa Jack.
